Farmers of the area rose above factionalism and partisanship by laying siege to Reliance petrol pump at village Raipur Kalan near village Bhagomajra on Landran-Banur road and continued their protest today on the 9th day. The protesters also burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meanwhile, farmers of the area are sitting on a dharna on the railway tracks near village Badala day and night. Baljinder Singh Bhagomajra, General Secretary, Peripheral Milkmen Union, Chandigarh-Mohali, Avtar Singh, Former Sarpanch, Kuldeep Singh Kurri and Youth Leader Gurjant Singh Poonia and leaders of various farmers’ organizations also chanted slogans of Kisan Ekta. They said the implementation of these ordinances has exposed the anti-farmer face of BJP against which the farmers and farmers’ organizations of Punjab are staging massive protests. They also said that till the black laws were repealed, the protests would continue and covert actions would be taken in the coming days. Farmers said that the central government wanted to sell farmers to corporate houses without paying the right price. He said that the farmers of Punjab were contributing 70 to 80 per cent of the food requirement of the country but on the other hand the rulers were trying to evict the farmers. He demanded immediate repeal of anti-farmer agriculture laws.
