Mohali administration has issued the orders after the Phase 8 police approached Sub Divisional Magistrate to provide shelter to the orphan children. ASI Bhupinder Singh of Phase 8 police station said, “These children including a 7-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy were left with no parent or other relatives after the accident of their mother, Meenu Chauhan, last week. Their father had already died. They were putting up in a rented accommodation in Sohana. With the efforts of police and administration, the Prabh Asra trust of Kurali has decided to provide shelter them.” On November 11, Meenu Chauhan alias Payal, a resident of Delhi, was returning to her house on a cycle in Sohana after finishing her job in Bestech Towers here, when a motorcycle hit her from rear side near Sector 69/Sector 70 T-Point. After the accident, Payal fell down following which she sustained severe head injuries. The bystanders admitted her to a private hospital from where she was referred to three hospitals of tricity including PGI Chandigarh, where she had succumbed to her injuries. The motorcycle rider is yet to be arrested by the police. A case was registered in this regard at the Phase 8 police station. “Today we have conducted the covid-19 tests of both the children, who are staying with their neighbours in Sohana currently. They will be shifted to Kurali soon. The accused will be arrested soon,” said ASI Bhupinder Singh.
