Shopkeeper held for selling counterfeit LCDs

Nabaz-e-Punjab Bureau, Mohali, November 25:
Mohali police have arrested a man who was selling counterfeit LCDs from his shop to customers, last night from Madanpura village here. The police also recovered 70 LCDs and a bag of stickers from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Gagandeep, a resident of Malout, who runs a shop ‘Doomra Digital Home’ in Madanpura village here. Inspector Manphul Singh, Station House Officer of Phase 1 police station said, “We got a tip-off that the accused was duping his customers by selling them counterfeit LCDs to them. He used to purchase the assembled LCDs from Delhi at cheaper price and selling here at higher price by pasting the logos of renowned brands including Samsung and Sony on them. The illegal practice was going on for the past few months.”A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 63 and 65 of the Copyright Act at the Phase 1 police station. The accused was later released on bail.
