Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin SIC SLAPS PENALTY OF RS. 5,000 ON PIO CUM DISTRICT TRANSPORT OFFICER JALANDHAR Nabaz-e-Punjab Bureau, Chandigarh, April 26 : The State Information Commission(SIC) during the hearing of a case has imposed a fine of Rs. 5, 000 on the PIO Cum District Transport Officer (DTO) Jalandhar for not providing information to the applicant under RTI Act. Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the State Information Commission said that an applicant Joginder Singh resident of village Alampur P.O. Lodhi Majra, District Roopnagar sought an information from the Public Information officer, Office of District Transport officer, Jalandhar under RTI, Act. The respondent PIO didn’t provide the information and an appeal was filed in State Information Commission. During the hearing of the case the respondent has failed to come up with any reasonable explanation for not providing information to the applicant under RTI Act. The Commission thus imposesed a penalty of Rs. 5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand only) on Mr. Damanjit Singh Mann, PIO – cum – District Transport Officer which has to be deposited in the government treasury.
