The police have also recovered two 32 bore pistols along with 7 live cartridges, a country made 315 bore pistol along with a live cartridge, a sharp dagger and an iron sword were recovered from their possession. The arrested persons are said to be the members of Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The suspects have been identified as Harwinder Singh alias Joy, a resident of Patiala, Subham alias Billu, a resident of Dadumajra, Sector38 West in Chandigarh, Hitesh alias Bholu, a resident of village Jagdishpura near Jindal University in Sonipat, Anmol, Abhinav Sonipat, both residents of Sonipat and a juvenile boy. The suspects were sent to three day police custody by the Mohali court today. Mohali SP (investigation) Harmandeep Hans informed during a press conference that on Monday, the police parties of CIA staff Mohali were conducting a checking of vehicles at a blockade near near Sunny Enclave. During checking, the suspects were nabbed when they were coming from sonepat in a white colour Scorpio. On checking the vehicle, the cops recovered the weapons and their vehicle was also impounded. “Based on the interrogation of the suspects, it came to the fore that they were planning to execute a bank robbery to gather funds with help of armed weapons. It was also discovered that the suspects were planning to help escape Manjit Singh, who is lodged in Burail Jail, Chandigarh in the Sonu Shah murder case, from police custody while going for hearing. The suspects are also the members of Bishnoi gang as they were working for Manjit Singh, who is a highly active member of the gangster Bishnoi group,” said Harmandeep Hans. The police also learnt through the interrogation that Billu, along with his accomplice Vijay had carried out the shooting incident at Sector 25, Chandigarh on October 19. Joy and Billu had also carried out the shooting incident on the day of state level function at Patiala on October 25. It was revealed that Bholu is relative of Manjit Singh, the suspect of Sonu Shah murder case. SP Harmandeep also added that the suspects had a criminal background as three cases were registered against Joy while two against Billu, a class.10th dropout, in different police stations. “Their main motive was to free Manjit Singh for which they had hatched a conspiracy in Sonepat after conducting a meeting. The names of three of their accomplices have been disclosed by them, who will be nabbed soon. There is no idea about the owner of the Scorpio car. We will now check the possible hideouts of their accomplices in Mohali. Further investigation is on,” said SP Harmandeep. A case has been registered against the suspects undet Sections 399, 402, 120-B of the IPC and 25 of the Arms Act at Sadar Kharar police station.
