Stressing upon the need to keep sportspersons fit and ready with all new sports techniques for the upcoming state, national and international events in normalise phase after COVID-19 pandemic, Rana Sodhi instructed director, joint director, district sports officers and coaches across the state to be on their toes for this initiative. He said that online training and coaching to the budding and established players during COVID-19 pandemic will prepare them for the sports tournaments, on the other side it will instill the spirit to fight this deadliest disease. Hence, Sports and Youth Services Department has decided to impart online training to players throughout the state. Giving further details, Rana Sodhi said that state government is committed to ramp up sports infrastructure and coaching facilities in the state. Presiding over a virtual meeting with coaches and other officials, he directed to ensure smooth online training to the players by all means. Rana Sodhi also instructed them to strictly adhere to the laid down procedure of online training to budding and established players so that they are always ready for competitions. “Coaches should also equipped them with tips of special diet and heath protocols, so that players can away from corona disease” said the minister, adding that nutrition of players could be ensured during this period. “We are updating the players with physical movement that is required for games like strength, speed, agility, endurance and coordination. Our aim is to make the players adjust on the ground on their return to field. We are asking the players to continue with the game so that they can get the feel of the game. It will also help in their foot-work. Online coaching would keep the players busy,” said Rana Sodhi. Meanwhile Director Sports Mr. D.P.S. Kharbanda today visited Sports Stadium Sector-78, Mohali to take the stock of the situation at ground level. During the visit he directed the officials to upgrade the sports facilities specifically athletic track.
