State Special Operation Cell arrests 2 illegal arms supplier

Nabaz-e-Punjab Bureau, Chandigarh, September 6:
State Special Operating cell, SAS Nagar on receiving a tip off about illegal consignment of weapons being transported from Gujarat and to be delivered in Punjab/Chandigarh to some unknown persons at Transport Nagar, Chandigarh. Team SSOC acting swiftly laid down the trap and stopped truck no. GJ 12 BX 4725 driven by Jagmohan Singh @ Gabbar S/o Harbans Singh R/o Village Bughipura, Moga and truck no. PB 07 BS 6591 driven by Manjeet Singh S/o Heera Singh R/o Village Mehtabpur, Mukerian, Hoshiarpur during Naka barricading at Airport Chownk, Mohali. Checking of the stopped vehicles resulted in the seizure of two 32 bore pistols, both bearing a distinctive “Star” mark. These pistols are believed to be part of the illegal consignment of firearms smuggled from Madhya Pradesh and intended for distribution within Punjab. The accused are linked to a significant arms smuggling operation that spanned across multiple states, involving the illicit transportation of firearms from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat into Punjab.
Divulging more details AIG, SSOC, SAS Nagar said that on the spot questioning of both the accused apprehended revealed that they used to bring the arms and ammunition from Madhya Pradesh and that Gursewak Singh @ Sewak resident of Village Khakh, Tarntarn and Inderjit Singh @ Sonu Fauji resident of Village Khela Khadoor, Tarntarn are the alleged mastermind behind this illegal arms trade, exploiting the transportation sector for the clandestine movement of illicit weapons into Punjab.
In this regards a case FIR no. 15 dated 04.09.2023 U/s 25-54-59 Arms act has been registered at PS SSOC, SAS Nagar. State Special Ops. Cell has intensified their efforts to track down and apprehend Gursewak Singh and Inderjit Singh, who are wanted by Punjab Police in multiple criminal cases related to arms smuggling, attempt to murder etc. Further investigation is going on.
