Three real estate developers booked for fraudulently selling unapproved housing project

Mullanpur police have booked the managing director of Omaxe New Chandigarh Developers Pvt Ltd, Rohtash Goel, and its two directors namely, Bhupinder Singh and Kamal Kishore Gupta, for fraudulently selling a housing project containing 18 flats to the residents.
As per the FIR, the builders have allegedly cheated Manpreet Singh, an advocate and a resident of Ropar by fraudulently selling the unapproved residential floor of a housing project, Silver Birch in New Chandigarh, Mullanpur here, without even obtaining the requisite CLU (change of land use). The firm did not even approved the property from the competent authority. However, the property had been earmarked as ‘not to be sold’ by the GMADA.
Talking to the Nabaz-e-Punjab, Manpreet Singh said he had purchased a flat from the builders in September 2019, which was previously registered on the name of a woman, Manju. “They also had taken approximately Rs 1.4 lakh as transfer fee for the allotment rights in his favour, which I transferred them through a bank transaction. After checking the facts thoroughly, I found that the project was a forgery of documents. The builders had approved the project in 2010 by showing a forgery layout of the housing project and started the bookings then. In 2018, GMADA put ‘not to be sold’ on learning about their reality. Inspite of this, they continued selling the flats,” said Manpreet Singh.
He added that he had submitted the complaint in this regard to the police in February this year but to no avail. After that he had to approach the Punjab and Haryana High court, which sought the status report of the matter from the police and finally the FIR has been registered now, he added.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 420, 406 and 120-B of the IPC at the Mullanpur police station.
