He said, “It’s extremely shocking to learn that six patients have died in Neel Kanth Hospital at Amritsar for want of oxygen. District administration has utterly failed to ensure the rational distribution of oxygen to all the hospital in view of their pressing requirement. Such a brazen malfunctioning confirms the downright collapse of ‘Mission Fateh’ in Punjab that was launched by Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh.” He added the appeal of the State Government to observe Covid-appropriate behavior, sounds so comical and incongruous in the absence of strict adherence of Covid Appropriate Governance. The senior Minister of the Government is brazenly violating the norms laid-down by the State Government. “The complete collapse of coordinated Covid appropriate Governance at all level of the State Government. It is high time for the Chief Minister of Punjab to wake up to take stock of the unspeakable situation prevailing in Punjab Hospitals, which are poorly bereft of adequate infrastructure and lacks synchronisation of efforts at all level. The Chief Minister must set up immediately a war room in his office, functional round the clock, under the supervision of one of the Principal Secretary level officers to monitor the supply of oxygen, vaccines and other medicines and other needs of each Hospital in Punjab,” said the former deputy speaker. Similarly, all civil surgeons should also set up round the clock control rooms in their offices to coordinate with central war room at Chandigarh. One senior officer in the office the Chief Ministers must be specially designated as CNO (Covid Nodel Officer), who could be reached and contacted by anybody in emergency situation. Medical emergency in the State is no less serious than the horrors of war, therefore we all are expected not to be complacent in any wanted situation and government officials must respond quickly with great alacrity to distress calls, at all level. Above all the Chief Minister by adhering to Covid appropriate behavior himself and coupled with Covid Appropriate Governance, must dispatch his Ministers and battery of advisors to camp at district headquarters to monitor the terrible situation at ground level rather than enjoying the host of facilities at the cost of the State exchequor by sitting in the ‘ivory towers’ at Chandigarh, said Bir Davinder Singh.
