The accused have been identified as Mani Kandan and Shingara, both residents of Guru Nanak Colony, Jagatpura in Sector 65 here. According to the police, there was a engagement ceremony function in the colony last night and two parties had a dispute over playing DJ. Mani and Shingara were also involved in the quarrel. On getting the call, constable Ramandeep Singh reached the spot with his party to settle the dispute. But the accused along with their accomplices attacked him when he was trying to intervene in their matter. They firstly assaulted him and removed his turban. After that, they attacked him with a brick on his head. The constable was taken to Civil Hospital in Phase 6 from where he was discharged today after taking treatment. Inspector Jagdeep Singh, Station House Officer of Phase 11 police station said, “We have nabbed two accused today. Their accomplices will also be arrested soon. A case has been registered against them under Sections 353, 186, 332 and 149 of the IPC. They would be produced before the court on Tuesday.”
